Think about how much you pay on you cable TV and if you really need it. Today we have many alternatives to cable TV and instead of paying $80 on this service you can pay $11 on a service like Netflix. If you really need the cable TV check your plans option, maybe you can downgrade to a cheaper plan.
#3 - Stop collecting, and start selling
Take a look in your house, sometimes we accumulate things that we don’t really need. Get rid of all the things you don’t use it anymore, you can make a donation, a garage sale or even sell it online. You will have more space in the house and it’s also a way of earning some extra money.
#4 - Sign up for every free customer rewards program you can
They seem silly but you can get discounts in a lot of products and it can help you save some money while doing some shopping. You can add to those rewards and discounts by using rewards credit cards to earn points on purchases at a wide range of stores that can be redeemed for cash back or other benefits.

Avoid instant gratification and wait 30 days before make a purchase. You will notice that the urge to buy will go away. Don’t buy something until you are sure that the item is truly worthy. You will save some money by simply waiting.

Two basic rules you have to follow when grocery shopping if you want to save money, first is to write a list and second do not go to the supermarket when you are hungry. If you have a list and stick to it than you avoid impulses and also avoid buying things that you might end up not using.
#7 - Invite friends over instead of going out.
Going out to eat is currently so expensive that most of the time is not even worth it. So instead, you can buy some food in the supermarket and invite your friends over. You will be more comfortable at your house, you can hear the kind of music you like and also save some money.
#8 - Repair clothing instead of throwing it out.
Sewing jobs can be done by anyone, it’s not that hard. So instead of buying a new shirt because the button fell off, how about googling a tutorial on how to sew a button?!
Not only you will save some money, you will also learn a new skill.
#9 - Don’t spend too much money entertaining your children
Kids can be entertained really easily, you don’t have to spend too much money so they can have a good time. You can take them to parks, play ball in the backyard, teach them how to ride a bike or even those old games that you used to play when you were a kid. #10 - Negotiate your credit cards interest rates
Do you use your credit card a lot and have you been paying a lot of interest? Maybe it’s time for a visit to your bank or a call to your credit card company to try to negotiate those rates. You have nothing to lose by trying and you could end up paying less interest.
#11 - Buy video games that have a lot of replay value
If you are found of video games and buy them a lot, maybe it’s time to re-think it. Buy a video game that you really like and will play until you mastered it. Once you are done with it instead of buying a new one, take the old one and try to trade in and only pay the difference.
#12 - Avoid fast food
Preparing food for those with a pretty busy life is quite and effort. But in order to save money the best thing you can do is plan your meals for the week and do some cooking on the weekend. You will end up eating healthier things and will save a lot of money.
#13 - Quit some bad habits
If you smoke or drink that’s a good time for trying to stop. These habits are not only expensive but potentially deadly as well. You can try some anti-smoking products or eletronic cigarette, doesn’t matter which path you’ll choose you will save a lot of money.
#14 - Turn off the lights
It might seem that by leaving lights on won’t cost much, but it will over time. To save as much as you can, turn off lights any time you leave your house or even when you leave the room. Try to only turn them on when there is no more natural lights outside.
#15 - Buy quality appliances that will last
Sometimes we think that by buying cheap appliances we are saving money. And it’s true, but in a short term. Cheap things break easily and you will have to spend money to fix it or to get a new one. You shouldn’t buy the most expensive ones either, but take your time before buying it, do some research, sleep on it and also look for product reviews. Doing all that you will buy a good appliance that will last a long time.
#16 - Quit using credit cards
Do you get in a lot of trouble with credit cards? It’s time to quit using them. Take them out of you wallet and keep it in a safe place in you house. If you need a credit card for emergencies, that’s ok. Just don’t carry it around with you, you will be tempted to use it.
#17 - Look at grocery store’s flyer
Instead of planning your meals out of thin air, how about planning it according to the offers they have at the grocery store? Do that for a few months and you will have a much smaller food bill at the end.
#18 - Find a cheaper grocery store
We have the habit of picking a grocery store and going back there every time we need something. If you are trying to save money, you should do a weekly research on the supermarkets close to your house and find the best offers. Supermarkets usually have weekly offers and will help you to save money.
#19 - Try generic brands of items you buy regularly
Stop buying the normal brands that you usually do and search for cheaper alternative brands. They usually put the cheaper ones at the bottom shelf, so start looking there and save some money.

Everyone likes going to the shopping centre, but if you are trying to save money it’s the last place you should be going unless you have something that you really need to buy. Window shopping can be a torture when you are trying to save money. So maybe it’s time to find a new way of entertainment.

If you have magazines subscriptions and they are piling up in your living room, it’s time to cancel all of them. With all the technology we have today, you don’t really need magazines, you can search everything on the internet and you will save a lot of money by canceling those subscriptions.
#22 - Swap babysitting with neighbors
If you live in a neighborhood with a lots of kids and you also have children, a nice way to save money is to talk to your neighbors and swap babysitting duties. Your kids will have a playdate with other kids and you will have a chance to have a night out with your partner without spending extra money with babysitters.
#23 - Use a tool to manage your finances
Start using a tool/service in which you can register your incomes and expenses. It gives you control over your finances and you will be able to figure it out where your money is going. It also helps you to find out if all the expenses are really necessary.
